Physiotherapy for Runners
Runners want to run
… and my goal is to keep you running as much as possible.
How can physiotherapy help?
Runners spend a lot of time doing what they love, which is running. If you’re reading this, you know it’s true! I am a runner myself, and completely understand the frustration if you aren’t able to run as much as you want, as fast as you want or as far as you would like. So, how can physiotherapy help keep you on the trails?
Running Assessments. I complete a thorough evaluation of your running style, and work with you to meet your running goals. This could include addressing issues such as over-striding, step rate, and rotation control, as well as discussing footwear choices, training plans, and more.
Injury Assessment, Treatment and Prevention. Runners are great at moving forward, but sometimes need help building strength and resilience in the other directions (side to side and rotation). I can build you a program to help you improve your strength, combined with drills to help you run more efficiently… and less likely to develop an injury. If you are currently injured, I can help you recover and get back to the mileage you want to be doing.
Strength Evaluations. I use the Vald system to measure your strength, discover asymmetries, and show you a real time analysis of where you’re doing great, and where you can improve.
Strength and Conditioning Programming. I know, I know. It’s more fun to run than to do strength exercises and drills. Utilizing the results from the Vald strength measurements, I provide a personalized and effective strength and conditioning plan to help keep you strong and resilient - without taking time away from your running schedule.
Recovery sessions designed to help you move and feel your best between runs. Whether you’re dealing with lingering soreness, stiffness, or an area that just doesn’t feel quite right, treatment is tailored to what your body needs that day. Sessions may incorporate hands-on therapy, dry needling, IASTM, kinesiology taping, cupping, and other strategies to improve movement, ease discomfort, and support your recovery between runs.
Training Schedules. I have additional training as a run coach, and can help you develop a plan to reach your next running goal. Whether you’re just getting started running, returning to running after pregnancy, or are training for an ultra, I can help you make a thorough training plan to help you achieve your goals.
